Description
The Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP) is the autonomous, technical body that performs the country's central banking functions, as established by the 1992 National Constitution and its organic charter (Law No. 489/1995).
Its main role is to preserve the stability of the national currency's value and to promote the efficiency, integrity and stability of Paraguay's financial system. To this end, it holds authority over monetary, financial, credit and foreign exchange matters.
BCP holds the exclusive right to issue currency, acts as the bank for banks and financial agent of the State, and, through its superintendencies, supervises the country's banking, financial, insurance and securities entities.
